I deal with small businesses all the time, a lot of the time people want a website just because someone they know have one. When I looked at some of the websites you can tell straight away someone in the family has designed it and built it in word or frontpage. Now I don’t have any problem with this I think its great if you can do it and have the design skills to make it look really good.
Some people don’t care if it looks good, some people think what they have is fantastic. However its more important about the market you aim at. Its usually a good idea to look at what is already out there. Who is doing the big business and why! If you want a website think it through. You maybe really busy and business couldn’t be better. Always keep in mind the quiet times when business is not so good. A well thought through and designed website that looks professional might just urge someone to contact you.
